William (Bill) L. Hirst, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday February 9th after a brief battle with lung cancer. Bill was born on September 9th, 1936 in Wild Rose, WI to the late Clarence and Vida Hirst. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 – 1957.

He worked many years as a machinist and retired from his position in maintenance at Printron in 2005. Bill will forever be remembered for his fun loving spirit, crazy pranks and outrageous “stories”. Bill is survived by his wife of 38 years, Barbara (Walters): children Tom (Missy) Hirst of Colo, IA; Tammy (Kimberly) Hirst of Wichita Falls, TX; Lisa (Lany) Hirst of Lawton, OK; Tim (Richell) Hirst of Appleton, WI; Todd (Liz) Hirst of Kimberly, WI; Lynda (Doug) Sasse of Hortonville, WI; Jenny (Chris) Smith of Hortonville, WI; Kim (Mark) Nowland of Waupaca, WI; as well as twenty grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and siblings Gladys Smith of Friendship, WI; Roger (Liz) Hirst of Rockton, IL.

Bill was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Oakley and Harry, sisters Jeanette and Jean, and great-grandson Wyatt. Bill’s family would like to give a special thank you to the wonderful staff from Ascension Hospice that assisted with Bill’s care, Brandi, Lisa, Kim and Lisa.
