William ‘Bill’ E. Passmore, 89, of Conyers, GA, passed away March 16, 2019 at Magnolia Hospice House of Conyers. Born on January 22, 1930 in Greenville, SC, Bill was the son of the late Clyde and Norma Wilson Passmore. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary E. Porter, whom he married on July 29, 1950.

After attending the Georgia Institute of Technology, Bill worked as a Civil Engineer for the Georgia Department of Transportation where he was known as ‘Mr. I-75’ for his work on the interstate project through Georgia in the 1960’s and 70’s. After they retired, Bill and Mary started a travel company, Jubilee Journeys, organizing trips which allowed them to travel extensively throughout the US, Canada, Europe and the Holy Land. A devout Christian and devoted member of Heritage Hills Baptist Church, Bill enjoyed being active in the church and served as a deacon for many years.

Bill was an avid model train hobbyist and loved sports, especially baseball. Bill is survived by his children, Deborah Scroggins and husband Stephen of Woodstock, GA, Cheryl Bongivengo of Big Canoe, GA, Morris Passmore and wife Gloria Flores-Passmore of Rogers, AR; brothers and sisters-in-law, Neil and Dianne Passmore, Sandy and Frances Passmore; sisters and brother-in-law, Cyrana Fox, Charleene and Stewart Copeland; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Passmore and son-in-law, Steven Bongivengo.

A funeral service will be held Saturday March 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Hills Baptist Church 2987 GA-212, Conyers, GA 30094, with Pastor Doug Ferguson officiating; interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park in Covington, GA. Family will receive friends Friday March 22, 2019 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s honor to Heritage Hills Baptist Church, 2987 GA-212, Conyers, GA 30094.
