William C. “Bill” Bishop, age 73 of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018. He was born the son of William A. and Helen E. (Hartshorne) Bishop on June 19, 1945 in West Chester, PA; the fourth of five children. Bill attended Blue Mountain Academy in Reading, PA, and went on to graduate from Henderson High School in 1963.

He became a carpenter and worked for Bill Crossin before joining the carpentry department at West Chester State College. Bill was in the U.S. Army during the… Read More » Vietnam Era, serving as a hospital medic and ambulance driver stationed in Hanau, Germany from 1966-1968. He married Linda Jane Klimosh on May 21, 1972, and together they moved to Lancaster in 1978.

Bill worked as the head of maintenance at Lancaster Care Center. He also worked temporarily for the Review & Herald Publishing Association in Silver Spring, MD, until he established Small Jobs by Bishop, his own repair and remodeling business, in 1988. Bill was an active member and Head Elder in the Lancaster Seventh-day Adventist Church and overseer of the Waterloo Adventist Church and Cemetery in Cassville.

His hobby was model trains – a love he passed onto many. Bill enjoyed wildlife and spending time by the water; he knew every boat landing from Dubuque to Lansing. His favorite pastime was spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife, Linda; three children: Dana (Wayne) Jentz, William K. Bishop, and Dan M. (special friend Kathy Faber and her daughter, Lindsey) Bishop; seven grandchildren: James, Josh and Kelly Bishop, and Randy, Alex, Shyanne, and Amiee Jentz; a brother, Lawrence R. (Linda M.) Bishop; a sister-in-law, Joyce Bishop, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by three siblings: Helen E. (Charles) Gleason, Roberta L. (Richard) Clements, and John L. Bishop. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2018 at the Lancaster Seventh-day Adventist Church (200 E. Alona Lane, Lancaster, WI 53813) with Dr. Samuel Garbi officiating.

Burial with Military Honors will be in the Waterloo Adventist Church Cemetery, Cassville, WI. Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at the Lancaster Seventh-day Adventist Church, and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a William C. “Bill” Bishop Memorial Fund has been established.

The Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory of Lancaster is entrusted with his services.
