Obituary for William Dean Lawrence William Dean Lawrence passed away May 31, 2018. A private family service will be held. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

William was born May 19, 1937, the son of John and Bertha (Hawkins) Lawrence. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School. William married Vivian Blackburn and they had four children together.

They later divorced. William worked at WMT and KCRG as an electrical engineer. He then worked for Rockwell-Goss for several years.

William was a staunch Democrat. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and working on cars. He was a movie buff.

William is survived by his children, Perry (Marina) Lawrence of Cedar Rapids, Jerry Lawrence of Des Moines and Jill Lawrence (Donald Quijano) of Des Moines; grandchildren, Nathan Lawrence, Holly Hines-Thayer, Lindsey Hines, Alexander Kruse and Abigail Kruse; siblings, Betty Lawrence of Belle Plane and Kenneth Lawrence of Tama.
