William “Dick” “Bill” C. Barnett, 96, passed away September 7, 2018. He was born May 4, 1922 to the late William and Ida Barnett in Romance, Arkansas. Dick served his nation with honor in the Pacific Theater during WWII.

He as of late, enjoyed recounting his memories and sharing his stories of his time during the war. Dick was a member of Gideon’s International. He retired from a career as a produce inspector at Kroger.

Dick was also a retired Fire Chief of the Floyd Volunteer Fire Department. He was a good Christian man who enjoyed; fishing, woodworking, and gardening. Dick will be most remembered as someone who loved his family and was willing to lend a helping hand when needed.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Dick is survived by one son; Jerry Barnett (Donna), one daughter; Karen Stroud (Brian), two brothers; Wyatt and Kenneth Barnett, three grandchildren; Todd Buck, Jeremy Trahan, and Blake Barnett (Christina), as well as eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Dick, is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Laverne Barnett, one daughter; Sandra Kay Barnett-Buck, and several brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be September 11th from 9:00 am to 11:00am at the Searcy McEuen Chapel. Funeral service will follow visitation at 11:00am at Searcy McEuen. Burial will follow the service at the Romance Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to; Floyd United Methodist Church, Floyd Volunteer Fire Department, or Arkansas Hospice.
