Obituary for William E. Waggoner William E. Waggoner, 86, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the United Methodist Village-North Campus in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born August 11, 1932 in Chauncey, Illinois, the son of Omer and Anna (Hill) Waggoner. He married Fern Wooldridge on November 23, 1952 and she survives.

William graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education from Arkansas State University. He began his teaching career in 1958 at Billett, Chauncey, and Petty Schools. In 1968, he became the Parkview Junior High School Principal.

He retired in 1989 as the Unit 20 School Superintendent. His memberships included the Otterbein United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School for 30 plus years, VFW, Edward Dobbins Masonic Lodge, Gideons, and American Pigeon Club. He was an avid gardener, and loved to read, play the guitar, fish, hunt, and be a weather watcher.

He served his country in the United States Army in the Korean War. Preceding him in death were his parents and one son, Reford William Waggoner. Survivors include his wife, Fern; one daughter-in-law, Linda Waggoner Fritz and husband, Darryl, of Bowling Green, Missouri; three brothers, Wayne Waggoner of Lawrenceville, Illinois, Eugene Waggoner and wife, Charlene, of Plainfield, Indiana, and Marion Waggoner and wife, Jane Ann, of Landenberg, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Loretta Huffman of London, Kentucky and Rosella Tracy of Sumner, Illinois; one granddaughter, Jennifer Randall of Macomb, Illinois ; and two great-granddaughters, Hannah Randall and Elizabeth Randall of Macomb, Illinois.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 14, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Masonic Cemetery in Pocahontas, Arkansas.
