OBITUARY William Edward Carter June 28, 1934 – July 14, 2018 William Edward Carter, Jr. entered into Eternal Life on July 14, 2018 after a long hard fought battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He passed peacefully with his wife of 57 years, Kathleen, by his side. William was born on June 28, 1934 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Edith Maxwell and William Carter.

In his youth he helped his Mother collect war bonds, metal and other material while his Father was in the Army, serving in the Burma, India, China theatre. This strong work ethic earned him the highly coveted Eagle Scout Award as a Boy Scout. He was a graduate of Ft.

Hamilton H.S. in Brooklyn, N.Y. After graduation he entered the U.S. Navy. He served at the U.S. Navy Station Coco Solo, Panama Canal Zone, earning the rank of Storekeeper Third Class. Upon completion of his honorable military service he worked for Manufacturers Hanover Trust for forty years.

William was a member of the American Legion. He was a devoted Lutheran and served his church in various capacities throughout his life. As a Master Mason, he served the Balder-Greenpoint Lodge for thirty-five years.

The Right Worshipful William Carter served as the Lodge’s treasurer. He was the Grand Sword Bearer of the Grand Lodge in the State of New York. William was a major sports fan, managing a citywide softball league for Manufacturers Hanover Trust.

He was a little league baseball coach, an avid bowler, and enjoyed cruising with his family and friends. William was a devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather. In Brooklyn, he and his wife raised three children, Billy, Deb and Tracy.

William and Kathleen retired to Florida in 1992. His true passion was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He could always be seen at their events, cheering them on or singing along.

He was and always will be their #1 fan. William Edward Carter, Jr. is survived by his wife Kathleen, his faithful buddy Brooklyn, his three children: William III (Kathryn), Deborah (Becky) and Tracy as well as seven grandchildren: KC, Sara, CJ, Jon, Ben, Nate and Hope.
