William’s Obituary William Edward Cockrell Sr. ” Grandpa and Papa” 77 of Cedar Lake passed away on February 12, 2019 at Franciscan St. Anthony Health. Born on January 16, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Earl(Helen Hastings) Cockrell. William married Bonnie Weinel on June 10, 1961 in Harvey, Illinois.

They were married for over 50 years, she preceded him in 2011. William was employed by U.S. Steel, and the proud owner of Bill’s Towing. William enjoyed working on cars, going to car shows, visiting Shipshewana, watching and going to gospel concerts, and shooting guns.

William was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Robert, Bettye and Mary, and grandson; Jeffrey. Survived by children; Laurie(Carlos) Cervera, William E. (Denise) Cockrell Jr, Cynthia(Curtis) Hicks, Holly(Michael) Lane, siblings; Ronald, Carroll, Paul, Teddy, Delilah, Willetta, loving “Grandpa and Papa” to 9 loving grandchildren and 5 loving great grandchildren. A visitation for William will be held on Friday February 15, 2019 from 4-8 PM in the Frazier Funeral Home 621 S. Halleck Street DeMotte, Indiana 46310, a funeral service will be held on Saturday February 16, 2019 at 11 AM in the Frazier Funeral Home Chapel, William will be laid to rest next to his loving wife Bonnie in the DeMotte Cemetery.
