Age 82, of Castle Shannon, peacefully on Wednesday October 3, 2018 after an extended illness. Bill was born in Meadville, PA the son of the late Daniel A. and Ella (Zimmerman) O’Connell. Beloved husband for 56 years of Mary H. (Kinney) O’Connell; devoted father of Maureen (Thomas) McAniff, Margaret (Mark) Thomas, Michael O’Connell, Mary Pat deMey, Mara (Brian) Winkowski and Martin (Tracy) O’Connell; loving grandpa of Heather Barker, Brent O’Connell (fiancé Brandy Balash), Amber Hughes, Ryan Thomas (fiancé Emma Crichfield ~ grandpa said so), Alyssa Thomas, Ashley deMey, Tyler deMey, Zachary Winkowski, Erin Winkowski, Amanda and Luke O’Connell; great grandpa of Austin Barker; brother of the late Patricia A. Kiely.

Bill had a strong faith in God, his family and his country. He honorably served in the U S Navy on the USS Des Moines and was an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local # 5 for 50 years. Friends will be welcomed at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Mount Lebanon, Sunday 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Winifred Church, Monday morning at 11 o’clock. Bill will eventually be interred in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full honors.
