Obituary for WILLIAM GORDON DRAHER William “Bill” Draher was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 4, 1932 to James Wells and Marjorie Schmidt Draher. He entered into rest on May 4, 2018. Bill came to “Miamuh”, Florida @ 1938 with his younger brother, Ronald, and his mother, Marjorie.

His father died when Bill was 4 years old. Bill was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War. He was a Special Deputy of the Highlands County Sheriffs Dept.

A well respected and dedicated employee at WPBT TV2, he retired in 1998 after 30+ years of service having held various positions including audio and maintenance engineer. Bill was an avid model railroader, Amateur Radio operator (WA4HNQ) and a lover of military history.

He was a member of the American Legion starting in 1949, and served as Chef de Gare in the Forty and Eight. Bill is survived by his devoted caregiver and fifth wife, Helen Draher; brother, Ronald (Ann); children of a previous marriage, Janet Walters, and her two sons; and his son William E. Draher; half-siblings in Alberta, Canada, John, Janet, and Terry (deceased). Predeceased by his eldest child, Helen Garretson (Gene) from a previous marriage.
