Mr. Toby James, 83 of Opelika, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 3, 2019 in Opelika. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Monday, May 6, 2019 at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home, burial will follow at Garden Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, May 6, 2019 beginning at 12:00 noon until 2:00pm at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.

Mr. James is predeceased by his loving wife Martha Pearline James; parents, Ethel Laura James and Homer Blanton James; sister, Doris Patterson; brother, Frank James. Mr. James is survived by his sister Evelyn Kiker; grandniece, Charlotte Patterson; step sons: Clarence Murphy, Larry (Jan) Murphy, and Cleve (Teresa) Murphy, along with a host of numerous step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. James was best known from his career running Swan’s Restaurant.

He was also known for managing the Lazy-B. Mr. James was also the Co-Owner of the Tiger Express. Mr. James was a member of Pepperell Baptist Church.
