Obituary for Mr. William Langston Holland William Langston Holland, Sr passed away on November 20, 2018. Langston was born in St. Petersburg FL July 16, 1936 where he attended local schools, graduating from St. Petersburg High School in 1953. He attended the University of Mexico and graduated from Duke University in 1957.

While at Duke he met his wife Carol and in 1958 they married and started their life together. He graduated from Stetson College of Law in 1960 and practiced law locally for over 50 years before retiring in 2010. He was a member of St. Petersburg Country Club (nee Lakewood Country Club) where he was an avid tennis player and golfer.

He was President of Phi Delta Theta at Duke, a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, The Dragon Club, Bucketeers Club and a founding member of the Polywogs. He was a former member of the Suncoasters, the Quarterback Club and Past Commodore of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club (1981). He was active in real estate, having developed residential lots and a shopping center in Brevard county as well as being a partner in the development of the Tanglewood and Harbor Isle subdivisions in St. Petersburg.

He and his brother Elliott developed a cemetery in West Palm Beach which was sold in 1986 and also owned Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Petersburg which was sold in 1990. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol; four sons Langston,Jr (Ellen), Troy (Judy), Albert (Liz) and Elliott, nine grandchildren and four great grand children. He was deeply loved by his family and will be missed.

He enjoyed hunting, flying, skindiving, fishing, boating, golf, tennis and snow skiing. He held a multi-engine instrument pilot’s license and enjoyed flying with his wife, Carol who is also a pilot. He and Carol went on several helicopter skiing trips in Canada and skied together in Europe, South America, Nevada, Colorado and Utah.

There will be a memorial service at First United Methodist Church St. Petersburg, 212 3rd St. N, St. Petersburg FL on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 11 am. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall immediately after the memorial service. In lieu of flowers to honor Langston donations can be made to First United Methodist Church St. Petersburg and Academy Prep, 2301 22nd Ave S., St. Petersburg FL 33712.
