OBITUARY William Leonard Clifton November 27, 1922 – November 12, 2018 William Leonard Clifton, 95, of DeQuincy passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018, 15 days before his 96th birthday. He was a graduate of DeQuincy High School and proudly served his country in WWII. He served in the Army as first gunner in the Machine Company M, 339th Regiment, 85th Infantry Division in Italy.

He also served with the 59th Military Police Company. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, EAMETO Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and WWII Victory Medal. Upon returning from the war, he worked for 40 years as a Conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad.

He served as President of his railroad union, the Commander of VFW Post 3231 and was a member of the SWLA Chapter 1996 Military Order of the Purple Heart. He loved working with his hands and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to farm, garden, horseback ride, work with his cattle and hunt deer.

Above all, his greatest love was his granddaughter and playing dominoes with his great grandsons. He will be missed by all who knew him and remembered for his wisdom, life lessons and being a proud Veteran. He is survived by his sons, David Clifton of Harvey and Keith Clifton of Sulphur; one daughter, Martha Clifton of Sulphur; one granddaughter, Bridget Fontenot and husband Mikah of Lake Charles; along with two great grandchildren, Jack and Luke Fontenot.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Hilda Guidry Clifton; parents, Albert and Alice Clifton; and 8 siblings. Visitation will be at Hixson Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 5:00-8:00pm. Visitation will resume at Hargrove Bible Baptist Church on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 11:00am until the time of the service at 1:00pm.

Bro. Paul Nugent will officiate. Services entrusted to Hixson Snider Funeral Home of DeQuincy.

Burial will follow at Perkins Cemetery. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www. hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
