OBITUARY William O. “Bill” Carter June 26, 1934 – October 1, 2018 A LIFE WELL-LIVED! Growing up in the backwoods of North Carolina, Bill’s love of hunting began while helping to provide food for the family. His first rifle, a Winchester .

22, was purchased with money made from his paper route. Bill served as a USMC Staff Sergeant in the elite fighting unit, Force Recon. He left the Marine Corps to follow his dream of coming to Texas with his new bride, Ellen, to start his career.

He worked as an ironworker helping to build the ever-growing skyline of Houston. While not ironworking, he followed his passion of working on guns for his friends which worked into the now well-known Carter’s Country Stores. He quickly became a pioneer in the Gun Industry with his knowledge and love of our 2nd Amendment Rights.

His forthright ideals took him to Washington, D.C., many times fighting for those rights for all gun owners with sterling results. Bill Carter had a variety of interests, one of which was to own land in Texas. This resulted in his eventual purchase of three ranches at which time his passion for personal hunting turned to sharing his love of the outdoors and hunting with others.

Ol’ Bill’s favorite thing was to spend time with hunters and help them fulfill their dreams of a lifetime hunt. Bill Carter was a man of integrity and vision and is a true Texas legend. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Monday, October 22, 2018, starting at 11:00 a.m. in the Harvest Worship Center at The Woodlands United Methodist Church.

The funeral service will begin at noon. Immediately following, friends are invited to a reception to be held in Asbury Hall.
