Mr. William Walter Ward a lifelong resident of Evergreen passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019. He was 96. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019, at the Evergreen Church of Christ.

Eulogies will be given by his children. Interment will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery with Cope Keahey Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the Evergreen Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Evergreen Church of Christ, 150 Church St., Evergreen AL. , 36401. Survivors include daughter, Debra Ward Mcintyre (Keith); sons, James William Ward (Sylvia J.), Robert Neil Ward (Ameila), Charles M. Ward SR.

(Ramona); brother, Henry Walter Ward Jr. (Sue Ellen); sisters, Earsie Ward Delchamp, Willie Mae Ward Wilson, Anna Ward Merrill, Dorris Ward Conner, Josephine Ward Powell; grandchildren, William James Ward II, Christi Ann Nash, John Joseph Nash, Melinda Christian Ward, Melissa Nicole Ward, Robert Neil Ward II, Walter Neil Ward, Charles Mitchell Ward Jr.(Abby), Andrea Gene Ward Lemond (Graham), Roderick Keith Mcintyre Jr. (Erin), William Zachary Mcintyre; great-grandchildren, Johnatan Lee Bodiford Ward, Jack Ward Ogletree, Kayla Padgett Ward, Alexander King Ward, Madelyn Leann Ward, Clayton Neil Ward, Ella Grace Ward, Clark William Ward, Jaxon Ward Lemond, Riggs Nelson Lemond, Jadyn Alexia Mcintyre, Carleigh Rae Mcintyre, Roderick Keith Mcintrye III “Triple”. Mr. Ward was a farmer for most of his life. He was one of ten members who organized Alabama’s Cattlemen Association in Demopolis Alabama in 1944.

He was also one of twelve who founded Farm Bureau in 1970 that later became know as Alfa Insurance Company where he served for many years on the board of directors. He was also a member of the Evergreen Church of Christ for more than 75 years where he served as elder deacon and Sunday school teacher. He helped organize the Conecuh County Fat Cow show.

He was a board of director for the Federal Land Bank and the Conecuh County Exchange now know as the Farmers Co-Op where he previously served as president.
