Bill was born in Glen Cove, NY on March 14, 1953 to the late Joan (Murrans) and William W. Bouton Jr. and was the oldest of four siblings. Bill spent his early years on Long Island before the family relocated to Cos Cob where he graduated from Greenwich High School as an accomplished soccer and baseball player.

Bill went on to get his A.B. in Politics and Government from Ohio Wesleyan University while playing four years of soccer for the Battling Bishops. Following his undergraduate education, Bill earned his J.D. at the University of Connecticut Law School and began his life-long devotion to the law. Bill was a gifted and tireless attorney, though he rarely liked to admit it.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bill was a loving and devoted father to Allison and Michael and more recently an adoring grandfather to his four grandchildren. Bill’s life also was deeply enriched by the people he encountered first at Tyler Cooper & Alcorn and then at Hinckley, Allen & Snyder. While at Tyler Cooper, Bill met and fell in love with his late wife Mary (Scanlin) with whom he shared many years of happiness with their expansive pack of dogs, notably Bruno, Lily, Gracie, Frazier, and Bailey.

Outside of work, Bill was a diehard Yankees fan, a long-time season ticket holder to UConn men’s basketball, and a regular in Storrs for men’s soccer games in the fall. Bill loved to exercise and regularly played soccer late into his life with friends from Newtown to Hartford and beyond. He also served as a youth soccer coach in Cromwell where he instilled his players with a love of the beautiful game.

Bill is survived by his brother Tom (Annette) Bouton of Stratford, CT; sister Peggy Maxson of Ellicott City, MD; sister Pam (Jeff) Hunt of Old Greenwich, CT; nephews Steven Shema, Will Piro, and Griffin Hunt; nieces Laura (Tom) Hart, Alyssa Bouton, Wendy Bouton, and Emily Hunt. Bill is further survived by his children Allison (Jeremy) Tuten of Arlington, VA and Michael (Tara) Bouton of Indianapolis, IN, and his beloved grandsons Wyatt, Max, Liam, and Finn. A wake will be held at Brooklawn Funeral Home in Rocky Hill, CT on Friday, May 10th from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. and a memorial service will be held at the Church of Saint Andrew the Apostle in Rocky Hill, CT on Saturday, May 11th beginning at 11:30 a.m. Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to one of the following organizations near to Bill’s heart.
