On October 1, 1936, Willie Cummings, Jr was born to his loving parents, Annie Gray Thomas and Willie Cummings, Sr in Townley, Alabama. He was the oldest of 12 children, affectionately known as Gable. He confessed Christ at an early age and served as a dedicated and faithful member of Lively Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Pratt City, until his death, where he served on the Deacon Board, Emeritus Superintendent of the Sunday School, President of the Usher Board and member of the Trustee Board.

He was a graduate of Walker County Trade School. He served in the United States Army and retired from US Steel after over 30 years of service. In 1966, he met and married the love of his life, Louvenia Brown Cummings, with whom he shared a loving union for over 51 years and 11 months.

He had a passion for guiding, mentoring and giving unselfishly to others. He loved his family, friends and was a man of high, ethical moral character; one who commanded respect, honesty and loyalty from those around him. He encouraged everyone around him to strive for excellence in every aspect of their lives, offering wisdom and sharing the word of God.

He was a member of the Masonic Order, Ruth Lodge #33, Omega #65 Royal Arch Masons, Central Alabama Council #1 Royal Select Masters, Persia Commandry #2, Khedive Temple #16, Red Cross Concistory #29, United Supreme Council Grand Inspector General, Patron of Carrie & Gloria Truth Seeker #896, Advisor of Bush Utopia #32 Cyrene Crusaders, Advisor of Khedive #46 DOI and Past Most Royal Advisor of the International Cyrene Crusaders. He transitioned from this earthly life on the evening of September 11, 2018 surrounded by his loving family, Masonic family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father (Willie Cummings Sr), mother (Annie Gray Thomas) and son (Robert Cummings).

He leaves to cherish his memory his wonderful, faithful and supportive wife until the end, Louvenia Brown Cummings, three daughters, LaQuita C. Hall (Trent) of Dallas, TX, Yolanda J. Royal (Roderick) of Birmingham, AL and Dorothy Quinn of Birmingham, AL; Grandchildren: Andrea R. Burroughs, Trent Hall Jr., Trevor Hall, Tyler Hall, Londarius Jackson, Makeda Royal and Saidah Royal; One Great Grandchild; Sisters: Maxine, Jeri, Janet (Sam), and Karyl; Brothers: Sylvestor (Dessie), David and Darryl; Stepmother: Eloise Cummings and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren and the Masonic Order.
