MCCRAY, Willie L., born July 11, 1929 in Nettleton, Mississippi, departed this earth June 21, 2018 at Hospice of Dayton. He took ill in August of 2017 and spent his last year of life under the loving care of his daughter, Carmen. Willie was born with a fearless and independent nature.

He believed in living life to the fullest with no regrets. He left Mississippi at an early age with his elder brother, Tommy and planted roots in Dayton. Willie believed in hard work and consistency.

He retired from GM after continuous employment there for over 30 years. Willie grew strong in his faith and relationship with God through his long-standing membership at Tabernacle Baptist Church of Dayton, Ohio. Preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Katie McCray; grandson, Donta Edwards; brother, Tommy L. Jr.; sisters, Mae Kate, Lillie Mae, Maggie Lou and Ida Lou.

He is survived by his sons, Antonio and Craig (Jacqueline) McCray; daughter, Carmen (Clarence “Skip”) Jackson; brother, Odell McCray of Tupelo, MS; sisters, Rose Jarnigan of Milwaukee, WI, Mae Sue (William) Stovoll of Tupelo, MS; grandchildren, Tony “Pooka” and Keisha Edwards; special nephew, Michael Stovoll; special friends, Ben Hill, Donna Ishman; ten great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held 12 noon Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Visitation 9 am until the time of service.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
