A homegoing celebration for Mr. Willie Thompson, Jr. who passed away at his residence on Thursday, December 27, 2018 will be held Saturday, January 5th, 11:00 a.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. , Min. Phillip Moses, officiating.
The interment will be held in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida on Monday, January 7th. Willie Thompson, Jr, was born October 11, 1950 in Tampa, Florida to the parentage of Willie Thompson, Sr. and Carrie Elizabeth Gainey Thompson. He was raised in Hyde Park area and attended the public schools of Hillsborough County.
Willie enlisted in the United Airforce and was honorably discharged November 7, 1970. He was a long-distance truck driver for many years. He gave his life to Christ and was baptized July 24, 2016.
He was a member of New Life Tabernacle, UPC in Seffner, Florida, under of Min. Phillip Moses guidance. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Thompson, Sr, and Carrie Elizabeth Gainey Thompson; his son, Tavaris Maurice Jones, twin brothers, Jerome and Jethro Thompson; nephew, Terence R. McRae; brother-in-law, Joseph McRae, his companion of 37 years, Michelle Walbey and numerous family members.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories with his, devoted sister, Cynthia McRae; daughters, Zena Thompson, Sharonda Brown and husband, Rohan Brown; loving aunt; who shares the same birthday, Martha Thompson; grandsons, Roman Thompson, Tyreke Stewart and D’Mario Stewart; granddaughters, Tilliesha Williams, Michelle Williams, Nylah Smiley, Samantha Jones and Sirone Jones; great-granddaughter, T’ana Williams; niece, Dawn Thomas; nephew, Myrick McRae; four grand-nieces, Bria Fleming, Ariel McRae, Yahaira Thomas and Micayla McRae; three grand-nephews, Terrell McRae, Warren McRae and Bryce McRae; one great-grand-niece, Avery McRae; special cousins, Phyllis Lawrence, Sharon Thompson and Reggie Thompson, Morgan Thompson, Jr., Christopher Thompson and Lisa Thompson; step-daughters, Carmen Walbey and Michelle Walbey; step-son, Miles Walbey; step-granddaughters, Natasha Broderick-Walton, Marianella Reyes, Maricela Reyes and Angalista Hutshell; step-grandsons, Soko Upshaw, Timothy Lindsey, Jeremiah Lindsey and Joshua Walbey; and several step-great-grands. “Junior”, as he was affectionately called by family and friends. Including his close friends, Reggie Smith, Richard Harris and Jules Bennett; thank you for all you did.
Junior loved all his friends as we were often reminded. He loved his family, especially his children. He has left an indelible mark on all our hearts.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, January 4th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
