Willodene’s Obituary Willodene Elizabeth (Simmons) Stroop, 80, of Singers Glen, passed away on Monday May 6, 2019 at her residence. Mrs. Stroop was born on March 25, 1939 in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late John Henry and Annie (Beydler) Simmons. Willodene retired from the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community after 39 years where she worked as a house keeper.

She also worked for Rockingham Bag Company and Ruddle and Swank packing shed. She was a long time member of the Spring Creek Nazarene Church. On October 14, 1957 she married Glen Elwood “Kack” Stroop, who preceded her in death on January 21, 2015.

She is survived by her children, Linda Elaine Blosser and husband Carroll of Harrisonburg, Ricky Lee Stroop and wife Judith of Singers Glen; siblings, Beulah Hess, Vada Showalter, Melvin Simmons; two granddaughters, Amy Burns and husband Chris, April Diehl and companion Joseph Elmore; two great-grandchildren; Madison Umbel and Izaya Elmore. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Roy Simmons, Clarence Simmons, Minor Simmons, Norman Simmons, and Viola Smith. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.

Don Guthrie officiating. Burial will follow at the Singers Glen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 PM on Tuesday May 7, 2019 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Singers Glen Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 373, Singers Glen, VA 22850.
