Obituary for Wolfgang G.W. Pape Print Wolfgang Pape born April 6,1931 in Hamburg,Germany. Born to Dr. Karl Pape and wife Elli Korfagger, he was the second of three children, with older sister Ingrid, and younger sister Ursula. He is survived by sister Ursula of Munich, his daughters Kirsten, Katie, and grandson Patrick (Kirsten’s son).

Wolfgang showed high intellect as a boy, able to tune the family’s piano for sister Ingrid to practice her lessons. conscripted into the German youth corp. (Hitler Youth) the entire Pape family was required to support the military effort.

He recalled carrying his beloved little sister Ursula downstairs to the basement shelter during bombings, as well as patrolling with his father to recover and defuse unexploded munitions. Wolfgang recalls running with schoolmates across fields to escape strafing from fighter jet airplanes. His mother’s’ family owned and operated a very successful clock making business , specializing in belfry tower clock installations.

In 1956 at the age of 25 Wolfgang came to the U.S. and was educated at Northeastern University, M.I.T. and Harvard University, where he was later employed for several years as an engineer in the physics Department doing acoustics research and development. He later married and owned a home in Burlington where he resided most of his adult life and fathered two girls, Katie and Kirsten. He was also an active and proficient Ham radio operator , doing civilian and military support work in various locations around the world.

he was active in the local Ham radio clubs, frequenting the radio electronics Fle Market at M.I.T. where he enjoyed interacting with the vendors. Wolfgang loved to ski the New England slopes and ride his moped through the streets of Cambridge and across the University Campuses. Wolfgang’s deep Christian Faith strengthened him and he said he looked to find something good in everyone he met, because of Jesus, his Savior.
