Yves Luc Turgeon, 70, of Mansfield, husband of Patricia (Gamache) Turgeon, passed away on December 13, 2018. Yves was known to many friends as “Pops”, “Mr. T” or “Captain Mickey Mouse” he was also known as “Lovie” by Patricia, the love of his life. Yves was the greatest husband and father a family could have.
He was a proud second Dad to so many people that loved him. He was born in Canada in 1948, to Dora and Marie Turgeon. Yves family moved to Connecticut when he was 13 with his sisters Pearl, Bibiane, and his brother Yvon.
After attending Windham Tech, Yves served his country proudly as a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1968-1972; this is where he learned to be our go to amazing “Mechanic”. As a helicopter mechanic, Yves wasn’t afraid to take anything apart. He went on to further his education, though he struggled with school and needed his notes to be rewritten by his wife so he could read them, Yves graduated with high honors earning his Air Frame and Power Plant Certification.
Yves then took a job at Pratt & Whitney for 35 years, where he worked hard and provided for his family, which was his top priority, proudly putting them first. Yves made many friends while he traveled the world touching hearts everywhere he went. Yves was always smiling!
He was full of joy and loved all this life had to offer. Although he battled with health the past 10 years, he fought every day, planned ahead, and he never gave up! Yves would want it known that he enjoyed this life to its fullest.
He enjoyed time spent with family, digging in the dirt with “Big Boy Toys” and fixing the machines, building anything he could, and spending time with his stove in the garage. Yves enjoyed watching TV with his wife and best friend, Patricia, whose bond and devotion made a loving life for all to share with especially at the family picnics that kept people together. He was a mentor and enjoyed teaching people things and if you didn’t understand something he would help all he could looking for solutions to many of life’s problems.
He fully enjoyed working outside and loved “taking momma out to eat”. He had many more dreams of working on the Turgeon Family Farm. The family asks that you please treasure the memories you have of him, remember his passions and the way he would just “be there” and listen without any judgement.
Knowing Yves, you likely have many fond memories of wise conversations, great moments and deep laughter and smiles things that he enjoyed until his last days, no matter how much pain he was in he was always smiling. Pops was the rock of our family, a leading example of compassion, kindness, generosity, dependability and LOVE. He had a wealth of knowledge and knew just what to say at the right time and was always willing to lend an ear or hand for someone in need.
Yves was beyond genuine, dedicated and a happy person and he gave his best in all he did in life and lived it to its fullest. In addition to his wife Patricia, of 45 years of marriage, he is survived by his beloved son Michael and daughter Sandy, and by his only granddaughter Nova “Pip Squeak”; he also leaves behind a massive amount of friends. Yves touched many lives.
He was an inspiration to all and will be truly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you spend time with your family and laugh together and make a toast enduring friendships lifelong and beyond. That is what Yves would wish for us all to just be grateful and enjoy all this life has to offer… Dad was truly an angel.
