Obituary for Zwanda Zeisloft Helmick Zwanda Zeisloft Helmick of Dunkirk, MD, devoted and beloved Mother of Michael, Melinda, Gregory, Jeffrey, Lance and Kirk passed away peacefully at Calvert Health Medical Center, Prince Frederick, MD on November 27, 2018. She was also the proud Grandmother of six Grandchildren, as well as five Great-Grandchildren and one Great-Great Granddaughter. She was preceded in her death by her husband, CMSGT Louis P. Helmick in 2010.

Zwanda met Louis at the Cord/Duesenberg Factory in Auburn Indiana. They were married on March 25, 1949. Louis joined the U S Army Air Force and, in their life, together raised six children while handling assignments to Scott AFB, IL, Wiesbaden Air Base, Munich, Germany, Travis AFB, CA, and finally to Andrews AFB, MD.

Prior to retirement, they built their dream home in Wooden Valley Estates and resided there for 30 plus years. Zwanda’s yard was a labor of love. You would always see her in the flower beds.

She loved the peace, quiet and serenity of her home and neighborhood. Zwanda’s final resting place will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to a charity of one’s choice.
