Obituary for A. Clary Sprouse, CMSgt USAF (Ret) Alfred Clary Sprouse, CMSgt USAF (Ret), 73, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at his home. Born March 6, 1945, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Walter Faber Sprouse Sr. and Margaret Mae Hood Sprouse. A U. S. Air Force veteran of Vietnam and Desert Shield/Storm, Chief Master Sergeant Sprouse retired after 33 years of service.

He was the honored recipient of the Air Force Commendation Medal with 1 Device; Meritorious Service Medal; Air Force Achievement Medal; Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon; Humanitarian Service Medal; Air Force Training Ribbon; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device with 4 Devices; Air Force Good Conduct Medal; Air Reserve Meritorious Service Medal with 3 Devices; National Defense Service Medal with 1 Device; Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Device; Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon; Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 3 Devices; Armed Forces Reserve Medal; Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Device; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; and Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 Stars. Clary received his BA Degree from USC and was a project manager with Yeargin-Potter-Smith YPS Construction Company of Greenville, SC. He was also a member of the Downtown Sertoma Club of Spartanburg.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Martha Wade Horne Sprouse; children, Mary Carla Eubanks (Carlie) of Winston Salem, NC, Amanda Eubanks Baker (Josh) of Lexington, SC, Brent Clary Sprouse (Missi), Bryan Clary Sprouse, and Cherrie Nicole Chisholm, all of Chesnee, SC; 10 grandchildren, Jack Stubbs, Olivia Stubbs, Ava Stubbs, Mary Anna Baker, Joshua Baker, Sophia Baker, Garrett Sprouse, Grant Sprouse, Maggie Chisholm, and D. J. Chisholm. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Walter Faber Sprouse Jr. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, December 7, 2018, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 8, 2018, at Trinity United Methodist Church, by The Rev.

Neal Y. Woods and The Rev. A. Mickey Fisher. Burial, with military rites, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd.
