Abigail E. (Wasley) Mercado, 37 of Canal Fulton, passed away Monday, September 17, 2018 after a lengthy illness. She fought a long fight; she passed her test and has now earned her wings. Born August 8, 1981 in Akron, she was an area resident all of her life graduating from Norton High School Class of ’99.

Abby worked at Akro-Mills for 18 years, enjoyed traveling to Jekyll Island, Georgia, music, spending time with family and friends, but most of all loved her daughter. Preceded in death by grandparents, Norma Chinrock, William and Eleanor Wasley; uncle, Jerry Gran and grampy, Ed Cottrill; She is survived by her daughter, Isabella Maria Mercado and her father Hector Mercado; parents, George and Cindy Wasley; sister, Jennifer (Brian Baker) Wasley; grandfather, Stephen Chinrock; grammy, Regina Cottrill; aunts and uncles, Debbie (Gary) Beckley, Karen (Sean) Hummell, Craig (Paula) Wasley, David (Diane) Wasley, Scott Wasley, Pam (Ron) Bof; many cousins and friends along with extended Cottrill family and Mercado family. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses from Unit J55, Cardiac and Intensive Care at the Cleveland Clinic for all of the wonderful care and support given to Abby.

Funeral Services will be held FRIDAY, 11am at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton, Pastor Bob Stephens, officiating. Burial at Clinton Cemetery.

Calling Hours Thursday, 5pm to 8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Abigail’s name can be made to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, P.O. Box 931517, Cleveland, OH 44193-1655. Please include your name and phone number with the donation.
