Ace was born on September 8, 2005 in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Carlos and Amy Painter Garate. Surviving family members include: parents, Carlos and Amy Garate of the home; brother, Ethan Garate, Emporia; twin sisters, VeraLynn D.L.P. and VaidaLynn D.L.P. Garate of Emporia; grandparents, Carlos and Mercedes Garate of Emporia, Kimberly and Paul Lowe of Topeka, and Timothy Painter of Idaho; great-grandparents, Manuel and Germania Palomino and Pete and MaryBeth Clark of Gardner; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by great-grandparents, Carlos Garate and Beatriz Vazquez, Shirley Franks, and Byron and Jean Painter, and a step-grandmother, Michele Moser. Ace was a seventh-grader at Emporia Middle School and a member of Twelfth Avenue Baptist Church. Celebration of Life services will be at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at W.L. White Auditorium, Emporia.
