Adrian Paul “Bud” Sabin, 90, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019, while wintering in Fort Myers, Florida. The youngest of three children, he was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, his sister Lillian, brother Sonny and their spouses. Bud was born in Clairton, PA to Adrian B. and Margaret Romig Sabin on May 22, 1928.

He entered the Navy just shy of 17 and was stationed in the South Pacific during WWII. He married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Betty) Sabin on September 8, 1951. Betty set her sights on him while attending a dance at the historic Linden Grove.

After seeing him across the room, she announced to a friend that she was going to marry him! Bud worked for US Steel’s Irving plant until retirement. He was instrumental for three patents that are still in use today at steel manufacturing companies around the world.

His basketball coaching career impacted many young men who continued to stay in touch with him throughout the years. He was tough, but always fair. He also loved officiating areawide basketballs games.

He was very giving of his time and extensive self-taught construction skills with family and friends. He instilled the love of travel in his children. One year he treated us to a 13-week vacation that took us all around the country!
