Alan J White Sr. December 23, 1966 – January 11, 2019 Share this obituary Local Florists Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Alan White, Sr., “Hap Mani Ga” (Bear Walks in the Day), 52, Walthill, NE, formerly of Parshall, ND and Denver, CO, died Friday, January 11, 2019 in a Sioux City, IA hospital. Alan White passed on to God’s peace on Friday, January 11, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa. He was hospitalized for several weeks, with multiple health complications, while his children and family stayed by his side, praying for a miracle.
They were with him when he journeyed to the spirit world to be with our relatives. Alan Jay White was born on December 23, 1966, to Helen Yvonne (Wells) White and Gene White in Denver, Colorado. During his younger years, the family lived in Parshall, North Dakota, in the Lucky Mound segment.
For many years, he lived in Denver, where he attended school and graduated in 1985. In high school, he was an outstanding track star, earning medals for his efforts. He also enjoyed weightlifting and its benefits.
During this time, Alan became a father to Alan Jr and Serena. He then met Melissa Clay and they had their sons, Christopher and Daniel. Alan moved to Winnebago, Nebraska, which was his father’s homelands.
He attended Western Iowa Tech and earned a certificate in welding. His enjoyed his career in the welding field until health issues prevented him from working. He met his lifelong companion, Sandra Redhorn (Tweet) and shared many good years with her and they remained friends.
He moved to Walthill, Nebraska and resided with his mother until her passing. He lived in the family home with his sister, Twila, and family. Alan was a very personable guy, easy to talk to and friendly.
He was a caring father, and best friend, to his sons. He was close to his brother, Alvin, and shared many precious family times with his sisters, nephews, nieces and grandchildren. Alan liked going to the casino and visiting friends.
He enjoyed working on cars and attending to car shows. Alan was born into the Midi padi (Waterbuster) Hidatsa Clan through his mother. On his father’s side, he was a member of the Winnebago Bear Clan.
As a young boy, he enjoyed dancing at pow-wows and being involved with the Denver native cultural community. Through the years and many times, he traveled home for milestone events and White Shield pow-wow celebrations. Alan leaves behind his family who will miss him always; sons, Christopher Clay of Winnebago and Daniel Clay of Espanola, NM, Alan White Jr. of Denver; daughter, Serena White of Denver; brothers, Alvin White of Sioux City, IA, Frank and Melvin White of Winnebago, NE; sisters, Twila White, Walthill, NE, Donna White, Denver, CO; aunts and uncles, Vina & Tony McDonald, Frank & Bessie Sherwood, Mamie Sherwood, Suzie Mesteth; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Lainey, Quinn, Coraline, Kendall, Ryatt, Orion and Nyla; nephews and nieces, Joey, Tessa, Demetrius, Steven, Allina, Janelle, Leanne, and Sierra.
He will be remembered and missed by his many relatives in the White, Wells, McDonald, Sherwood, Youngbird, Howling Wolf, White Bear, and Bear families. A great reunion is taking place as Alan joins our relatives in the spirit world including his mother and father, Yvonne & Gene; sister, Emerald Jean; brother, Mike McDonald; maternal grandparents, Ralph Jr & Olive Sherwood Wells; great-grandparents, Ralph Sr & Polly Plentyfox Wells, Peter & Molly Wolf Sherwood; paternal grandparents, William & Alice White. Wake services will be held at 5 pm on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Lucky Mound Veterans Hall, Parshall ND.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Officiating the service will be Waterbuster Clan Bundle keeper, Delvin Driver; and uncles, Marcus Wells Sr and Deacon Tony McDonald. Alan will be laid to rest near his mother, father and sister Jeannie and all the Wells family at Memorial Congregational Church, rural Raub, ND.
A memorial gathering was held in Winnebago NE on Saturday, January 12 for his Winnebago relatives and friends.
