Obituary of Alan Gravenor Alan Wise Gravenor, 54, passed away unexpectedly on December 3, 2018 in his sleep. Alan was born June 9, 1964 in Salisbury to the late Norman and Iva Mae Gravenor. He was educated in Wicomico County Schools, graduating from Parkside High School in 1982 and Salisbury University in 1986.

Aland worked at WALMART as the Photo Lab Manager for several years, but shortly after graduating college, Alan became a fixture at the Wicomico Civic Center box office in a part-time capacity before coming on as the full-time box office manager in 2002. He loved this job and the ladies that he worked with, he considered them his family. Alan began participating in 4-H competitions at the Wicomico Farm & Home Show at the age of nine, and was involved with the Fair ever since, having served as president, past president and as a member of the Board of Directors.

Alan was well-renowned on the regional Fair circuit, bringing home numerous awards and trophies for his entries, which included canned and baked foods as well as his beautiful candy that he created. Alan is survived by his sister, Patti Sue Cecil (Scott) of Seaford, De, one nephew Jason Alan Miller (Kristin) of Fruitland, great niece Leah Horseman, and great nephews Caleb Horseman and Tyler Miller. Alan also leaves behind a beloved Aunt and Uncle Richard and Vera Staton of Fruitland.

Special to him were his cousins Phyllis Webster of Salisbury and Lori Ann and Amber Staton. He also leaves behind many more cousins and relatives too many to mention. While growing up Alan was busy with cub scouts, 4-H, school activities, and UMYF.

He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. Alan’s family was his life and he enjoyed each and every moment spent with them. He was especially devoted to his mother and father who he adored and chose to take care of them by moving next door.

His family is comforted to know that he is now reunited with them in Heaven. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 2-4pm and Monday one hour prior to the service all at the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at Wicomico Memorial Park. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home PA, 501 Snow Hill Rd. , Salisbury, MD 21804.
