Otego, NY -Alberta C. Erikson passed into eternal peace on Thursday, October 4, 2018 in her daughter’s home finally with her husband Frank, waiting for thirty years. She saw God. Born October 7, 1925 at home in Rosedale Queens County, NY.

The daughter of the late Conrad J.Habermann and Helene (Link) Habermann. Baptized in Rosedale on April 4, 1926. She was home schooled by her mother and graduated Andrew Jackson High school at the age of 16.

After school, she worked at Metropolitan Life… Read More » (mother met) as a proof layout clerk while World War II raged on and was awarded certificate for outstanding and effective work in the sixth war loan campaign in 1944. Alberta met her life soul mate Frank Erikson at a basketball game at Luther League and never looked back. The first date was playing ping pong June 8, 1941, engagement August 8, 1944 while Frank was serving our country in the Coast Guard/Navy.

Marriage June 16, 1946 at Christ Lutheran by Pastor Dressel. With the money she saved from working at the Metropolitan Life, Alberta with her husband Frank and brother Connie started the company Fracon Trucking Co. On April 24, 1950 a mortgage was issued to Mr. and Mrs. F. Erikson with their first born Carol moving into 1052 Park Lane North Franklin Square, NY where the family resided for 65 years. Daughters Judy, Holly, Christine, and son Frank soon followed.

Alberta was very active member at Ascension Lutheran Church, Franklin Square. She was in charge of the making of the christmons that still hang in the church tree every Christmas and Vice President of WELCA for many years. Helping with the strawberry festival, church picnic at Mill Neck Manor, and numerous events at the church, including the “lunch bunch” a group of ladies who met for lunch after church.

She was always driving children to many activities with church retreats and Valley Stream North High. Always volunteering, she drove for the Blind, sewing various costumes for the family and the famous New Year’s Eve theme parties. Alberta is most famous for her travels around the world.

She’s been to every continent except Antarctica. First with husband Frank, many cruises and trips to England, until his sudden death February 1986. After Frank’s death, she continued cruising with her friends from Ascension Lutheran especially her dear friend Lillian.

Survivors include: Her children and spouses: Carolyn Abrook, Judith and William Krietsch , Helene and Charles Camero, Christine, and Frank and Iva Erikson. Grandchildren include: Justine, Melodie, Timothy, Charles, Frank, Elise and Corie and Thomas (deceased). Great granddaughter Karis, Frankie and Sara Rose and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Alberta was predeceased by her brother Conrad L. Habermann who passed in August of this year. Alberta was fiercely dedicated to her husband, family, and her Savoir Jesus Christ. She loved a great party which there were many especially at the family’s lake house in Highland Lake, NY.

Alberta loved reading books from Elmont Library, rooting for our NY Mets “Play Ball” and watching Jeopardy and tolerating Wheel of Fortune with Jean Oh, Alberta wanted everyone to remember…she made good gravy. Amen Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday October 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, 145 Franklin Ave, New York 11010 with Rev. John A. Jurik officiating.

Interment following services at Maple Grove Cemetery 127-15 Kew Gardens Rd.
