Alberta “Bertie” Isabel {Heape} Chilcote Wilson Brown was born on March 15, 1920 in Independence, Kansas to Etoile and William Heape, and she passed away on December 19, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with loved ones by her side. Bertie graduated from Independence High School in 1938 and married the love of her life George Chilcote in 1940. She was a wife, mother, and businesswoman who enjoyed the fellowship with sorority sisters of Beta Sigma Phi.

After she retired, her love for the arts grew as she participated in many classes at the Wichita Center for the Arts. She also enjoyed traveling the world, socializing with girlfriends, and attending Shrine functions. She was an active member of East Heights United Methodist Church, College Hill United Methodist Church, both in Wichita, KS, and later became a member at St. Elijah Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church in Oklahoma City.

Bertie raised 3 children, Jean Marie, Jim and Patty and then enjoyed a close relationship with her grandchildren Brian, Doug, Debbie, Krissy, Katie, and Colby and her great granddaughter Laney. She was blessed with 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren and several granddogs. Bertie was preceded in death by her husbands George Chilcote 1940-1954, L.J. Wilson 1957-1983, and 2002-2014 Lester Brown.

She is survived by her children Jean Wright, Jim (Alana) Chilcote, Patty (Bill) Davis, grandchildren Brian (Angela) Piersee, Doug (Tammy) Asay, Debbie (Tad) Shadid, Krissy Hert, Katie (Nate) Keith, Colby West, and Laney (Kyle) Combs, as well as 22 additional great and great, great grandchildren. Special thanks to her dear “sippie” friend and confidant Anna Harris. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM, Oklahoma City at St. Elijah Church, 15000 N. May Ave, OKC, 73134.

Burial will take place on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM, Mt. Hope Cemetery Independence, KS. In of lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Flowers That Do Not Wither Fund at St Elijah Church, Oklahoma City.
