Albin’s Obituary Albin J. (Handy) Hemak, 80, Jermyn, died Tuesday at his residence. He was the husband of Marie (Connor) Hemak. Born in Jermyn, on March 1, 1938, son of the late Adam and Sophie (Gosk) Hemak, he graduated from Jermyn High School and was a retried garment worker, having worked in several local dress factories.

He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and spending time at the hunting cabin. He enjoyed bowling, Nascar races and dancing and visiting his friends at the Windsor Inn and Bottlers. He was a loving father and grandfather who loved family gatherings.

Also surviving are a daughter, Paula Tokarczyk and husband, Robert, Jermyn; three sons, Albin Hemak Jr. and wife, Jacqueline, Carbondale; Robert and wife, Georgeann, Carbondale; Paul and wife, Regina, Simpson. He is also survived by mother-in-law, Mary Connor, Jermyn; grandchildren, Kelly Kochis and husband, Matthew; Tyler Tokarczyk; Paul Hemak Jr.; Kristin Evans and husband, Daniel; Jacqueline Kuwik and husband, Beau; great-grandchildren, Collin and Elijah Boguski; Franklin Tokarczyk; Emily and Luke Evans; and Madelyn Kuwik; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Parish in Jermyn. Friends attending the Mass are asked to go directly to church. A viewing will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ryczak-Harrison Funeral Home Inc., 901 Lackawanna Ave.

, Mayfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
