Obituary for Alfred “Al” Ussery Alfred “Al” Romine Ussrey, of Mabank, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 10, 2019 with family at his side. Al was born June 29, 1946 in Sweetwater, TX to Pete and Arkie (Lay) Ussrey, both of whom preceded him in death along with his grandson, Justin Cordova. He attended Midland High School and worked with Sherwin Williams in Garland.

He enjoyed woodworking and his beautiful handmade designs and creations were exceptional and unique and his talent was easily recognized. Three wheeled motorcycle “trikes” became a passion of Al’s and he enjoyed riding, experiencing the beautiful scenery with both planned and spontaneous trips with friends and family. He was active in the Texas Trike Reunion where many memories were made and shared with other trike enthusiasts.

Time with family was always a priority with Al and his annual get together, the Annual Ussrey Big July 4 Celebration, was eagerly anticipated by everyone who attended. They were all treated with food, featuring his signature BBQ recipes, lots of fun and plenty of fireworks! In his spare time, he enjoyed relaxing by fishing and boating and Al’s very favorite activities were spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren sharing with them his special fishing tricks, secret fishing places where they could all catch the biggest fish and teaching them how to drive the boat (but not too fast!

) on the lakes they visited. A treasured husband, loving father, devoted grandfather and loyal friend, Al will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He leaves to carry on his memory his beloved wife of over 40 years, Norma Ussery of Mabank; daughter, Sherri Cordova of Andrews, TX; sons: Pat Dennehy and wife, Theresa, of Forney, Bill Dennehy and wife, Laurie, of Kaufman, and Jimmy Dennehy and wife, Michelle, of Terrell; seven grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren as well as extended family and a host of friends.
