OBITUARY Alfred Certisimo September 28, 1928 – December 26, 2018 Alfred Certisimo (Al Certo) 90 of Secaucus passed away Wednesday December 26, 2018 at the Maywood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Maywood NJ. Al was born in Hoboken and was a longtime resident of Secaucus. Al was a legend in New Jersey Boxing Community.
He was inducted into the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame. He trained and managed many great fighters including world champion James “Buddy” McGirt. Al trained many fighters out of the Rocky Marciano Gym and Buffano Gym in Jersey City and in Gleason’s Gym in New York City.
He volunteered at the Secaucus PAL for 15 years teaching boxing to the kids of Secaucus. He was also a skilled Tailor and was the owner of Certo’s Custom Tailors in Secaucus for 60 years where he provided custom suits for many celebrities including former Giant head coach Bill Parcells. Al was predeceased by his daughter Sandra Mullins and his sisters Antoinette Conti and Blanche Montifore; He is survived by his wife Esther Bernacchi Certisimo; his daughter Kim and her husband Richard Mewengkang; his brother Carmine and his sister Joanne Viggiano; his grandchildren Saxon, Cody Natasha and Anthony; Visitation will be held Saturday December 29, 2018 from 2 to 7 PM at the Mack Memorial Home 1245 Paterson Plank Rod.
Secaucus. Funeral services will be held Saturday evening at 6:00PM at the funeral home.
