Alice’s Obituary Alice Ann (Barth) Murphy passed away peacefully at home on May 5, 2019. Born in Philadelphia, Alice Ann was the daughter of the late Elmer and Bernice Barth. She had been married for 54 years to her best friend, George, who passed away March 2, 2018.

Alice was the proud mother of George Murphy III of Coram, NY, Rosemary Kelly (Scott) of Franklin, TN and Kathleen Murphy (Jason James) of Healdsburg, CA. She is survived by her much beloved granddaughters: Bo Lesley Wilson and Jayden James, sister-in-law, Kathy (Troxel) Barth of Quakertown, and cousin, Barbara Barth of Moorestown, NJ. She was preceded in death by her brother, Howard (Ed) Barth and sisters-in-law: Anne (Nancy) Murphy and Marie (Ria) Murphy.

Alice attended Cardinal Dougherty High School, Gwynedd Mercy College, and Nazareth Hospital School of Medical Technology. She worked for many years in the optometric field and after retirement “from the real world” drove school bus for First Student. A Lifetime Member of the Girl Scouts of the USA, for over 30 years, Alice was the leader of Junior Troop 71037 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansdale.

She also served Girl Scouts in many other roles on both the council and local level, and was active in her community association and church. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 10, 2019 at 10:00AM at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1601 Derstine Rd. , Hatfield, PA 19440.

Family and friends are welcome to call beginning at 9:00AM. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Philadelphia. In lieu of flowers donations should be sent in her name to: Girl Scouts of Eastern PA (camp development), P.O. Box 27540, Philadelphia, PA 19118; or Montgomery County SPCA, 19 E Ridge Road, Conshohocken, PA; or WRTI, 1509 Cecil B. Moore Ave.
