Alice E Sanville Deery Obituary Photo

Alice Deery shot her final “look” on June 3, 2018 at the age of 70. She passed following a brief illness, peacefully and in the presence of family. Born February 27, 1948 in Westfield, MA to Harold and Jane Sanville, Alice was one of the more colorful siblings to Sally Ascollilo and Bette Babinksi.

Her other two siblings, Nancy Kennedy and Mark Sanville, left early to get cocktails started for Alice. Alice attended St. Mary’s schools and then became a nurse which she did for nearly 50 years. Known for her humor and sarcasm, Alice was well known for her medical advice of “take a Motrin and leave me alone”.

Her husband, Daniel Deery Sr., windmill aficionado, pre-deceased Alice in 2011. She was a proud mother to at least one of her children that include Rebecca Clerkin, Chris Avery (favorite), Daniel Deery Jr., and Regina Deery. Contrary to photographic evidence, she also leaves behind 6 grandchildren; Connor Clerkin, Katie Clerkin, Allison Avery, Emma Avery, Tommy Deery, Courtney Micciulla, and D.J. Micciulla.

She also leaves behind her companion Doc and a house full of his hair. Alice’s hobbies / interests included ghost stories, 80’s crime TV shows, “coma days”, Miller Lite, gossiping, making up outlandish stories, “rides up country”, Ann Murray music, tag sales, collecting flying pigs, taking care of others, and making people laugh. If you ever needed someone to talk to or a course of “anti-bee-otics”, Alice was the one to see.

As she would say, “If you don’t have something nice to say, come over and let’s have a drink”. Anyone that knew Alice knows that she would give the shirt off her back not only for family and friends, but to a complete stranger. She would also have that complete stranger over for drinks and dinner with enough food to feed an army and send them home with leftovers.

Calling hours with be at Firtion Adams at 76 Broad St, Westfield, MA on June 16, 2018 from 11 to 12:30 followed by a short, informal celebration of Alice’s life from 12:30 to 1:00 on Saturday, June 16th. Shindig to follow. As Alice would have wanted, this will be a celebration of her life so no need to wear black or a suit … boas are optional.
