Obituary for Alice Faye Knox Price Alice Knox Price Of Indian Land, SC Mrs. Price, 75, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, July 23, 2018. Recently diagnosed with cancer, her journey to the end of her life was the same as the way she lived it, without the need for fanfare and with kindness and grace. She was born on June 5, 1943 in Mooresville, NC, to the late Gaye Mayhew Knox Turman and Earl M. Knox, Sr. A graduate of Mooresville High School, Alice moved to Charlotte to begin her career and made lifelong friends and memories at the “Wherelse” house.
She met her husband, Jerry, at a sports car event in the North Carolina mountains and that chance encounter lead to a lifetime of love and adventures, often including Austin Healeys and road trips. She moved to Indian Land, SC, in 1968, and focused on her family until she became part of the opening team at Mercy Hospital South, now known as Carolina Medical Center Pineville. Her caring tone and ability to connect was widely recognized and she retired from there after 25 years of service.
With her genuine interest in others and the gift of listening, Alice never met a stranger. She evoked a level of comfort that enabled others to share their life stories and to feel heard. For her family, she was strong, steady and loving.
She was the ultimate caregiver in so many ways and she will be deeply missed by all that knew her. She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Jerry Price; children Paige Price Wilcox (Andy) and Mark Price; grandson Elan Price, step-grandson Braedon Russo; sister Sharon Knox Kistler (Bill); brother Jay Knox (Masami) and sister Kathy Knox Harris (Chris); sisters-in-law Karen Murdock Knox and Judy Price Topkins; brothers-in-law Ronald Price (Anna) and Allan Price (Susan) plus many nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Earl “Butch” Knox, Jr.; sister Earlene Knox Lawing; father-in-law Fred Price; mother-in-law Anna Springs Price; brother-in-law Robert “Bob” Topkins; and niece Megan Knox.
Per Alice’s wish, no traditional service will be conducted. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. For those wishing to send memorial gifts, a college education fund has been set up for Elan, her grandson and greatest joy.
