Allen’s Obituary Kittery-Allen D. Tibbetts, 10 Norton Road in Kittery, Maine died on May 18, 2019 at Varney Crossing in North Berwick, ME following a period of declining health after a major stroke in November 2018. He was born on May 2, 1935 in Gouldsboro, Maine. One of seven children to Charles and Vera (Bridges) Tibbetts.

In 1938 they moved their family to Berwick, Maine where Allen attended Berwick schools and graduated from Berwick High in 1955. Allen proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from January 1956 to January 1960 as an Architectural Draftsman. Undoubtedly Allen’s love of his family was unquestionable, but he also had a love of music, playing the drums and singing, he was known for his yodeling, people would pack the club to listen to him yodel, earning him the nickname the Yankee Yodeler, people were drawn to him for his charismatic personality on and off stage.

Allen worked several occupations including at a lumberyard, The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, as a rigger, but his passion was driving trucks for many years and operating his own company Tibbetts Trucking. Allen lived in Berwick, Maine for many years until he met the love of his life, Irene, of 47 years and moved to Kittery Point on Cutts Island Lane, where they raised their family and made great memories on Chauncey Creek. After retirement, Al & Irene enjoyed travelling in their motorhome to different U.S. states, finally settling in their winter home in Hudson, FL for over 20 years.

Allen is survived by his wife Irene (Hoyt) Tibbetts, daughter Melissa Albert and her husband Norman of Lebanon, ME, Son Robert Tibbetts of Somersworth, NH, daughter in law Linda Tibbetts of Berwick, ME, son Allen Tibbetts of Meredith, NH, daughter Linda Brochu and husband Phil of Sanford, ME, daughter Kimberly Smith and her husband Andy of Frenchboro, ME, daughter Cheri Tobey of Bowerbank, ME. Brother John Tibbetts, Sister Brenda Pitman, thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, sister in laws, brother in laws, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Robert, Vance and Doristy Tibbetts, daughter Deborah Bellows, grandsons Russell Tobey and Travis Denbow.

Friends are invited to visit with his family on Thursday May 23, 2019 from 6-8 pm in the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine 03904. A funeral with military honors will be celebrated on Friday May 24, 2019 at 11am at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.
