Naugatuck-Alvin K. Schiller, age 92, husband of the late Lydia (Fidalgo) Schiller, passed away at Waterbury Hospital on Tuesday January 15, 2019. Mr. Schiller was born in Naugatuck on May 30, 1926, son of the late Louis and Caroline (Trichel) Schiller. He was a lifelong Naugatuck resident and a graduate of Naugatuck High School, where he was captain of both football and baseball teams.

Alvin was a member of the Naugatuck Hall of Fame, VFW Post 1946 and the American Legion. A proud World War II Veteran of the United States Navy, he received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign medal, Philippine Liberation medal, and World War II Victory medal. He also coached Union City Little League for many years.

Alvin is survived by his children, Mark and Jeffrey Schiller, both of Naugatuck; his sister Eleanor Kerski; several nieces and nephews, including Joyce Enquist; and his special friend Carol Crean. His funeral will be held on Saturday January 19, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck. Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery.
