OBITUARY Ama Jean Houston July 29, 1937 – September 18, 2018 Houston, Ama Jean, age 81, of Vandiver, AL passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents, Auston and Nonnie Whitfield; brother Carl Whitfield; sisters, Mildred Partridge, Mae Stokes, and Leola Weldon; grandparents, Riley Eason, Annie Allen, Dock Gordie Whitfield, and Olivia Whitfield. She is survived by her husband, Bobby W. Houston; son, Roger Houston; daughters, Bonnie R, Meacham (Jack) and Tammy J. Whitfield (Derek); brothers, J.A. Whitfield (Shelby) and Sylane Whitfield (Susie); grandchildren, Jennifer L, Lawley, David A. Lawley, James Chase Whitfield (Kori), Austin D. Whitfield (Bailey), and Ryan Houston (Summer); great-grandchild, Peyton James Lawley; and a host of loving sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, family and friends.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Rena Harris and Sylacauga American Hospice for the excellent care for our mother. The family will receive friends Friday, September 21, 2018 from 2PM to 3PM at Vandiver Church of God with a funeral service to follow at 3PM. A private burial will take place at Lawley’s Chapel.
