PORTWOOD, Amanda Marie; 85, of Mechanicsville, VA went to be with the Lord, Thursday, May 23, 2019. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Wilton (Weddy) Portwood; two brothers, George Billy Balsinger and Joe Balsinger. She is survived by one adored son, Wilton (Butch) Portwood (Carol); one beloved grandson, Eric Portwood (Courtney) and one great-grandson, Landon; her siblings, Mary, Francie and Peggy; and her sister-in-law, Donna Balsinger.

Amanda was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, painting, scrapbooking and most of all, time spent with her family and friends. She could be painfully honest with everyone when needed; you never had to wonder what she was thinking.

Amanda was a long-time member of Gethsemane Church of Christ, Mechanicsville, VA. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Carrie Waltman, NP and the entire staff of Autumn Care of Mechanicsville for the compassionate care they provided to Amanda during the last two years. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 10 – 11 am at Gethsemane Church of Christ, 5146 Mechanicsville Turnpike, Mechanicsville, VA with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at 11 am.

Interment will be held in the church cemetery.
