OBITUARY Andrew Brondos August 16, 1929 – October 23, 2018 Rev. Andrew Daniel Brondos, age 89, of Allen, TX; devoted husband of the late Elizabeth (Luecke) Brondos; loving father of Joel Brondos (wife Marilyn), David Brondos (wife Alicia), Peter Brondos, Ellen Thorne (husband Chuck), Edith Bowlby, and Arthur Dauer; son of Michael Brondos and Mary (Gecelovsky) Brondos; proud grandfather of Elizabeth Fry (husband Matt), Caleb Brondos (wife Meghan), Jason Brondos (wife Taylor), Elise Bowlby, Monica Brondos, Andrew Brondos, Benjamin Brondos (fiance Melissa), Angie Bowlby, and Danielle Bowlby; honored great-grandfather of Athan Brondos; dear brother of the late Rev. Michael Brondos, the late Mary Mertus, Ann Jackson, and Susanne Kostelnik, died on October 23, 2018 in Allen, TX.

Andrew Daniel Brondos was born on August 16, 1929, in Steubenville, OH, and baptized at St. John the Baptist Lutheran Church in Steubenville. He was also confirmed there on November 1, 1942. He graduated from Concordia College, Ft.

Wayne, IN, in June 1949, then attended Concordia Lutheran Seminary, St. Louis, MO, where he received his Master of Divinity degree. While at the seminary he met Elizabeth Luecke of Dallas, TX, whom he married on July 10, 1954. Together they served throughout almost 60 years of ministry.

He was ordained into the holy ministry in the Slovak Evangelical Lutheran Church on August 7, 1955 in Dearborn, MI. His first call was to Trinity Lutheran Church in Bradford, Ontario. He subsequently served St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Massillon, OH, St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cudahy, WI, and Bethel Lutheran Church in Ft.

Smith, AR. At his first three congregations he conducted services and preached in both Slovak and English. In 1986 he became the full time executive for education and stewardship for the Mid-South District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in Memphis, TN.

He retired from the ministry in 1994 in Memphis and subsequently moved with wife Elizabeth to McKinney, TX in 2012. He enjoyed a wide variety of other endeavors, including woodworking and traveling around the country with his family. He was also an avid reader.

Various articles of furniture he built are still in use throughout the homes of his children and grandchildren. All who knew him found him an exceptionally gentle, compassionate, selfless, dedicated and faithful minister and friend. He maintained relationships with many longtime friends from the various congregations he served throughout even the later years of his life.

A private funeral service will be held Friday, October 26 in Plano, TX with a public celebration of life service to be scheduled at a later date. A graveside committal will be held at Grove Hill Memorial Park on Saturday, October 27, at Noon. In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to donate to any of the following: Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, the American Heart Association, and Alzheimer’s Association.
