OBITUARY Anetta W. Reynolds September 20, 1926 – January 13, 2019 Mrs. Anetta (Wonsettler) Elliott Reynolds, born on September 20, 1926 in Washington, Pennsylvania, to the late Ellen and Glenn Wonsettler, passed away peacefully at age 92 on January 13, 2019 in Atlantic Beach, Florida. Anetta (known as Sis to her friends and family) attended Trinity High School in Washington with her sisters Kathryn, Gertrude and Marie where she was a popular cheerleader, named “Most Athletic Female” for her basketball skills, and secretary of the Senior Class. After WWII ended, Anetta married one of her former classmates, James Richard (Dick) Elliott, who had recently returned to Washington after serving in the U.S. Navy.
The family soon moved to Florida to help Dick convalesce from the complications of Polio. Anetta cared for Dick and their children until his death in 1964. She later married Ellis W. Reynolds, a retired Marine Corps veteran and chemical engineer, whom she met at their shared workplace of SCM – Glidden in Jacksonville, Florida.
Ellis and Anetta enjoyed a long marriage and raised their combined families together in Jacksonville then later moved to their home on Lake Santa Fe in Earlton, Florida. After Ellis’ death in 2011, Anetta enjoyed the next phase of her life as an active resident of Fleet Landing Retirement Community in Atlantic Beach, Florida. Throughout her life Anetta was an avid reader and loved to curl up with a book.
Anetta traveled extensively and enjoyed the business of travel. She spent several years working with National Airlines and later with Five Points Travel Agency in Jacksonville. She loved to dance and always came up with inventive ways to exercise, like taking belly dancing lessons, hula hooping, water skiing, or swim dancing.
She was a beautiful lady with a wonderful sense of humor. Anetta spent a large share of her time caring for her loved ones. Her sheer determination kept her family strong and financially fit.
She was a master of the ledger and the tidiest of record keepers. After retirement she reconnected with old friends and made many new friends at Fleet Landing. Anetta loved her activities and lunches out with friends, particularly the day trips to the Mayport Naval Base.
She kept a close connection to veterans and had a deep respect for those who served in the armed forces, especially the Navy and the Marine Corps.
