Anita Kay (Sandercock) Ahola, 78, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2019 at the Lighthouse of Hancock nursing home. Anita was born in Iron Mountain, to Francis and Eva (Nasberg) Sandercock, moving to White Pine in 1953. Anita spent many happy years in Iron Mountain, spending summers at Keyes Lake, skating and playing with all the kids on East D Street.

She graduated from Ontonagon High School, attended Northern Michigan University and received her LPN from Gogebic Community College. In White Pine she sang in the church choir, was always there to make church pasties and was born again in 1978. She is survived by her son, Brian D. Ahola, her daughter Jane Maierle, sisters Donna Corday and Holly Fitzpatrick, grandchildren Brian C. Ahola and Sherri Umentum, and great grandchildren Adalynn, James, Andrew and Brenna Jo.

She was formerly married to John Ahola. On Saturday, June 1 a Gathering of Friends is at 12:00 and service at 1:00 pm at the Cane Funeral Home, 310 Steel St. Ontonagon and burial at Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
