Born in Zelandorf, Germany, she was the wife of Charles (Charlie) Edward Gowan and daughter of Robert David Hummel and the late Hildegard Dabrunz Hummel. She graduated from Phoenix University, was formerly employed by Hardees, and of the Baptist faith.

She loved her family, collecting Indian motifs and wolves. In addition to her husband and father, also surviving are two sons, Robert Tame and fiancé, Danielle of the home, and Joseph Mahoney of California; a daughter, Ashley Tame of Florida; a step-son, Jon Allison and fiancé, Del of Gaffney; a brother, Heinz Hummel of Tennessee; a grandchild, Zane Allison. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
