Ann E. Neverett March 27, 1933 – January 7, 2019 SCIOTA – Ann Elizabeth Neverett, 85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family and her nephew’s loyal dog, Piper, on Monday, January 7, 2019. Ann was born in Utica, NY, the eldest of three children, to the late Arthur and Theresa (Pelkey) Neverett. Ann graduated from Mooers High School in 1951, and later from Champlain Valley Physician’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1954.

She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Care Management from St. Francis College in 1979. Ms. Neverett earned numerous achievement awards throughout her nursing career. The American Nurses Association awarded her the Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Certification in 1986.

Ann retired from New York State’s Hudson River Psychiatric Hospital in Poughkeepsie where she worked as a Registered Nurse and hospital administrator for many years. After retirement, she continued working part-time as the head nurse and Infection Control Nursing Specialist at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point, NY. She was a loving and compassionate person who enjoyed spending time with her family, tending to her home, and swimming at the YMCA.

She had a thirst for knowledge, a passion for reading, and a talent for knitting, sewing, and gardening. Ann loved caring for people and was beloved by all, especially her family. Survivors include: two daughters, Sharon Veltman of Schenectady, NY and Michele (Bob) Redlo of Hercules, CA; four grandchildren: Erin Veltman, Chelsea LaForest, and Max and Rae Redlo; two great-grandchildren: Aubrey Rae and Mia Rose Smith; her sister-in-law: Gloria Neverett; and many nieces and nephews: Terry Neverett, Tammy Grom, Tim Neverett, and Tracy Hadley, and all their children and grandchildren; and many wonderful friends.

She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Arthur and Norman Neverett. All who knew Ann are invited to visit with her family on Thursday, January 17th, from 10:00am-12:00pm, at Our Lady of Victory Church, 4919 South Catherine Street, Plattsburgh, NY. A mass celebrating Ann’s life will immediately follow at the church at 12:00 pm.

Burial will take place at a later date in the St. Louis of France Cemetery in Sciota.
