OBITUARY Ann Hale Marler July 21, 1951 – July 13, 2018 Mrs. Patricia “Ann” Hale Marler, 66, Watkinsville resident of 31 years, passed away Friday, July 13, 2018 after a 3 year battle with cancer. Ann was a 1969 graduate of Hixson High School in Tennessee where she was a star basketball player and was given the nickname “Spider” and was also voted as Miss Hixson High School by her classmates. After high school, she received an associate’s degree from Chattanooga State.

She was employed by Tennessee Valley Authority for many years before moving to Watkinsville in 1986 where she then worked for Athens Tech and Life of Georgia and more recently was a caregiver and nanny. Ann is survived by her parents, Glenn and Carlos Hale of Hixson, Tennessee, her children, Lori (Dan) McDonough, Portland, Oregon; Andrea (Ted) Pender of Winder, Georgia; and Major Adam (Erin) Marler, M.D., of Ocean Springs, Mississippi. She had 6 grandchildren that she adored: Allyson and Rachel McDonough, Clay and Carly Pender, and William and Jacob Marler.

She is also survived by her brothers Wade Hale and Travis (Beverly) Hale of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tom Marler. The Family will receive visitors on Sunday, July 22 from 12-2 at Smith Funeral Home in Winder, GA and a celebration of life will follow at 2:00 in the Smith Memory Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support at Piedmont Athens Regional. Smith Funeral Home, Winder, is entrusted with the arrangements.
