Elizabeth Ann Richardson (Ann) passed on Tuesday August 7, 2018 at the Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper Wyoming. Ann was born to Pearl and Howard Elderkin in Butte, Montana on April 6, 1939. She was a ‘big sister” to one brother, Richard (Rick) Elderkin.

After completing High School in Butte, Ann attended college at Montana State College (now Montana State University) in Bozeman, Montana. In 1961, she obtained the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Ann taught seventh… Read More » grade math for two years in Billings, Montana while she waited for her future husband to graduate from college.

Following his graduation In June of 1963, she married Ken Richardson a native of Bozeman. The couple immediately moved to Sheridan, Wyoming where Ken was employed as an Architect. Following a brief stay in Sheridan, the couple moved to Lander, Wyoming where she lived until her death.

In Lander, Ann taught seventh and eighth grade math and English at Starrett Junior High School until she retired to pursue a “life of leisure in the country” on Squaw Creek West of Lander. Ann was a member of Eastern Star in Butte and PEO in Butte and Lander. She was a member of Chapter Q of PEO and a founding member of PEO Chapter BB; she achieved the distinction of becoming a 50 year member of PEO.

Ann considered herself a “hunter/gatherer”; she enjoyed being in the out-of-doors, gardening, hunting birds and big game, picking wild mushrooms and berries, fishing and camping. She loved the Red Desert area of Wyoming where she and Ken spent many enjoyable days hunting for “rocks” and other treasurers. When she was able, Ann tended a garden and “put up” the food that she grew.

Ann was very fond of all creatures, especially dogs and cats. She particularly enjoyed her Irish Water Spaniels and leaves behind her thirteen old bird hunting friend Bodacious “Bo”. Survivors include Ken, her husband of 55 years; her brother Rick and his wife Linda of Claremont California; nephew, Christopher (Topher) Elderkin of Chicago, Illinois; niece, Katie Kendrick and her husband Pat, a great niece, Rebecca (Becca) Kendrick and great nephew, James Kendrick all of Parker Colorado.

She will be greatly missed by all. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Lander, 2811, 262 N 3rd St. at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 29, 2018 with a luncheon to follow in the Church basement. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Chapter BB PEO local scholarship fund c/o Andrea Kenney, 620 Brodie, Lander, Wyoming 82520 or a local charity of the donor’s choice.
