Obituary for Anna Margaret Luth Anna Margaret Luth, 94 years of Columbia, IL, passed away on October 24, 2018, at her home in Columbia, IL. She was born February 4, 1924, in Sturgeon, MO, daughter of the late Edward John and Rose Anna, nee Wesselman, Orscheln. Anna Margaret was married to the late Louis Henry Luth, Jr

They were married June 3, 1944, in Columbia, MO. Ann was a homemaker who raised ten children. Her faith was the bedrock of her life which revolved around her family and Immaculate Conception Parish in Columbia, IL.

She participated in the ACTS spiritual development program of the Parish, was a past president of the altar society, now known as Immaculate Conception Council of Catholic Women, was lead sacristan for Mass, she had sponsored several RCIA candidates, was active in the Cursillo 4th Day community and a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish’s Tuesday quilters. For years she helped organize the annual October Sunday Fun-day fundraiser for the parish. She was a part of the team helping IC Parish’s Capital Campaign to raise money for a new church building and parish school.

Many parishioners looked up to her as their mentor, because she was involved in everything about the parish. She formerly served as Girl Scout leader for Elizabeth’s brownie troop. At home she loved to play cards, especially Hand and Foot, with whomever was available.

She was a world traveler, accompanying her children to Canada, England, France, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Holland, Scotland and Spain and was looking eagerly for the next travel adventure to eternity. Until recently, she crisscrossed the country to spend holidays with her children and grandchildren coast to coast or to be at the bedside of one of her children who was ailing. Surviving are five daughters, Rose Marie Conley of Plymouth, MA, Therese (Ted) Sander of Moberly, MO, Margaret Mary (Ken) Kurre of St. Charles, MO, Agnes (Kevin) Densmore of Abington, MA, and Elizabeth ‘Liz’ (Everett) Taylor of Columbia, IL; five sons, Louis (Cathy) Luth III of Yorktown, VA, Gregory (Shilin) Luth of San Jose, CA, John (Jo) Luth of Chatham, NJ, Gerard (Kathy) Luth of Olathe, KS, and Matthew (Patti) Luth of Trinity, FL; thirty grandchildren; thirty one great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer (Peggy) Orscheln of Moberly, MO; four sisters-in-law, Lucille Orscheln of Hannibal, MO, Ann Orscheln of Columbia, MO, Norma Orscheln of Horn Lake, MS, and Sr. Mary Ann Luth of Eureka, MO, brother-in-law, Fred Luth of Shrewsbury, MO, along with other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Harold, Frank, and Gene Orscheln, along with a sister, Geraldine Vitt. Visitation will be Thursday, November 1, 2018, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church – Garden Level, 411 Palmer Road, Columbia, IL, and Friday, November 2, 2018, 9:00 am – 10:00 am, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Columbia, IL. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday November 2, at 10:00 am, at the church, with Fr.

Carl Scherrer, officiating. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Saint Louis, MO.
