Obituary for Richard Lee Egbert Richard Lee Egbert, 95 years old of Millstadt, IL, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2018 at Red Bud Regional Hospital in Red Bud, IL. He was born December 1, 1922, in East St. Louis, Illinois. Richard was a member of the Concordia Church of Christ in Belleville, IL.

He served his country proudly in the United States Army, serving in World War II, as a combat engineer. He was a member of the VFW Post #7980 in Millstadt, IL, and the Masonic Lodge in East St. Louis, IL. He was employed for 40 years by Swift Packing Company in National City.

Richard enjoyed gardening, fishing and attending his church regularly. He also enjoyed volunteering cutting and frying fish for the VFW for many years. His proudest accomplishments were his two sons.

Surviving are two sons, Robert (Kim) Egbert of Columbia, IL. and Richard (Toya) Egbert of Millstadt, IL. ; grandchildren, Angela Laskowski, Bonnie Egbert & Riley Egbert, Aaron Mouser & A.J. Mathis, and Tom Albers; great-grandchild, Grace and Griffen Laskowski, Tanner and Chase Mouser, Bailey and Timothy Albers, and Kaya Mathis; his brother Jack Egbert, his sister, Emma Ruth Roethmeier, along with other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Mary Jane Egbert and his parents, Leslie and Gleena, nee Uhles Egbert, four brothers, Leslie Egbert, Raymond Egbert, Tommy Egbert, Jim Egbert, and two siblings in infancy. Visitation will be held at Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, IL on Thursday, November, 8, 2018 from 5-8 PM and 9:00 AM on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Concordia United Church of Christ in Belleville, IL. Funeral Services will be held at Concordia United Church of Christ in Belleville, IL on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Allen Fluent officiating.

Interment will follow in the Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, IL. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to Concordia United Church of Christ in Belleville, IL or the VFW Post 7980 in Millstadt, IL.
